Hot Hot Hot
Hoo.  It’s a roasty toasty day.  Which is, of course, awesome when you’re 8 months pregnant.  (Turn your sarcasm radar on, folks.) Fabric Love
Though there are so many gorgeous Japanese fabrics, I usually pass them by because I can’t handle paying so much for them.  But these ones.  Hoooo boy.  I may just have to save some pennies and splurge on such water-coloury prettiness. This fabric is from the Kokka Nani Iro fabric line, designed by Naomi Ito, available through Purl Soho.  And this lap quilt project featured on their...

Country Kitsch, anyone?
When tying to explain that I like “country” style (because people ask me that aaaall the time in everyday life.  OK, no they don’t.  But I’ve had the conversation a handful of times.), it’s hard to express what country style means to me.  Because in my mind it is not your stereotypical “country” (tons of plaid, roosters, sunflowers, or cow print, for...

Things are going to start slowing down around...
Well, on the blog, that is.  I’m under a month away from Baby #2’s debut, and I want to use my limited energy for my sweet boy and my wonderful man, and my home and preparing for what’s ahead. Isn’t he just the sweetest?  Photograph by Justine Taylor So instead of trying to blog regularly, I’ll blog for the next couple of months when the mood strikes, or the...

Design Quandary: High Ceilings in the Kitchen
One of the house plans that we’re seriously considering for the farm has vaulted ceilings.  Great design feature, right?  But I had never considered this option, since the old house plan I’d been stuck on had a developable attic, and therefore, regular ceilings. This is when having a huge-mongous file of design inspiration photos comes in handy… while I may have saved pictures...
