O' Christmas Tree!
The centre of all Christmas decoration! Here are a few trees I love…
The number 1 thing I love about a Christmas tree is the sparkle! I love the way this one (via Martha Stewart Living) glows! It makes me think of when I was little - I’d wake up in the middle of the night, curl up in a chair in the living room and just stare at the lights glowing in the dark!
Also from Martha...
Hooray! A dusting of snow, putting up the tree, and my wonderful husband was the one to put on Christmas tunes!
First time that I’ve been glad it stays dark on winter mornings. Think I can squeeze a little more sleep outta’ the little guy?

Trim up the Tree with Christmas Stuff...
…like bingle balls, and who-foo fluff! (That’s from The Grinch)
As usual, it’s the last weekend in November, which means it’s time to decorate our place for Christmas! Sean is pretty stuck on no Christmas decorations until December, but I can usually negotiate for the last weekend in November. :) I might stick up a few pictures of that when it’s all done. Or I...

Fear not
I posted a verse below that was floating in my brain tonight. I don’t fear a lot of things, really. I take getting sick or hurt in stride. I can generally handle snakes and spiders. And I certainly don’t fear death, for then I will meet my Lord, and be set free! But fear can creep into my life in sneaky ways. Abstract things like rejection, or failure, or disappointment are...
For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self control.

A Room with a View
Who doesn’t love a window seat? Seriously! The idea conjures up all sorts of warm fuzzies: imagine yourself curled up in a cozy little nook, wrapped in a soft blanket, holding your favourite warm drink, all the while looking out at the snow falling, or thunderstorm raging, or the sun rising. *sigh*
The House has two dormer windows in the attic space - perfect for little window seats!...

Got Etsy?
I’m a huge fan of Etsy. Out there in the realms of the blogosphere that I surf everyone knows about Etsy. But in real life, few people I know have heard about it, and most of those who have, heard about it from me! I think it’s a fabulous idea: an online marketplace where artists and craftspeople set up “shops” to sell their wares. One day I’d love to set up my...

Storybook Spotlight #2 ("Art")
So, today I wore a striped sweater. And no matter how much I tried to get his attention, Little M could not stop staring at it. It was quite cute (as all things he does are!). So I pulled a book for us to read this morning that has lots of pattern to look at, and sure enough he was delighted!
“Art” by Patrick McDonnell is about a boy named Art, who loves to create art!
The pages...

Mad Hungry →
Truth be told, I think I’m one of the few women out there who is OK if I never have a daughter. Don’t get me wrong, I would LOVE to have a little girl - someone to take to the ballet, to french braid her hair, to buy a new Easter dress for… But the idea of having a gaggle of boys also seems like a lot of fun to me. When Sean and I first found out that Little M would be a...

Storybook Spotlight #1 ("Not a Box")
I adore children’s literature. I particularly love picture storybooks. I think maybe because they’re about the whole package - the text, the illustration, the design - and as an artist that appeals to me. I love that such a short story can hold so much - a lesson, a creative idea, a delightful thought, or a deep metaphor. So, I think that one of my regular posts will be a Storybook...

Inevitable Failure
I’ve been good at a lot of things. I always got very good grades (with the notable exception of anything mathematical). I got lead roles in plays. I made sports teams. I was given leadership positions. I impressed people. Experienced success. Won awards.
then,
I became a mom. And suddenly, I know nothing. I am resourceless. I am forced to make decisions every day, and I have no idea what...

Posting Top Secret Stuff on the Internet
So… to blog, or not to blog? I’ve toyed with the idea for some time. I like to read blogs (well, some of them). I like to write stuff. I sometimes have thoughts swirling around in my head that I have to do something with. Some times I feel like I have this crazy creative energy that I can physically feel, and I have to do something with it, or I will probably explode. (Probably.) ...
